Welcome to my incredibly stupid website. This was my pride and joy from '04 to '07. I've since rescued it from its barely- functioning state and I'm presenting it here.

I hope you enjoy it.

I'm Festive on the Inside

I was supposed to attend a party tonight. I was dressed up (or as dressed up as I get anyway) and in the vehicle when I finally realized I was not going to go. I don't do well at parties. I find it a bit like I imagine it would be if I were on trial for some huge crime. I could list the countless ways in which I am miserable at parties. I could tell you I don't feel attractive enough, or smart enough, or interesting enough. Blah, Blah, Blah. Suffice to say I am, in my opinion, generally not enough.

So, I went to Dollar Tree instead and the ever popular Wally world (translation for Bill & Neil: Wal-Mart). Instead of going to a nice hotel, watching the planned entertainment, or maybe [gasp] dancing, I took another path. It led me to shop for groceries.

Therefore, I have decided that I must be festive on the inside, carrying my personal party with me wherever I go. Attending a "party" would be overkill. So much so I might explode into a colorful shower of confetti someone will have to sweep up later.

Hey, it's my phobia/neurosis/pain-in-the-ass. When you have one of your own you can rationalize it any way you please. That's the rule. It's in the handbook.

  • Just a note really. In the Sims [PC/MAC original version] when the babies "evolve" into children, they explode into a shower of colorful confetti.

So, based on your theory that, were you to go to a party you'd explode into a shower of confetti... are you implying that an evolutionary change would befall you and that once the confetti had finished falling you would have undergone dramatic physiological change ?

I guess that that only leaves one question unanswered.

  • I have to say that I'm of a similar opinion regarding the majority of parties. Although, I don't think I'd explode. I think I'm more likely to blend into the wallpaper and slide out under the door... or something.

As "a bit of a computer nerd" [the left kneecap to be specific] I think that it is generally accepted that I might be a little bit socially inept. At least, that's what I keep telling myself :-)

  • I've never played Sims. Interesting point our friend Anonymous makes. To answer your question, no. I don't anticipate evolving into a child or party-going for that matter. I'm just mildly neurotic and have a colorful way of describing how I feel. I'll have to check out the Sims to see this festive moment you describe. Or possibly not. I'm not into many computer games.

(Sleepy note to self: play Sims, evolve, go to parties, be like everyone else... nah. Be neurotic and go to bed. Goodnight.)

  • Oopsie - my error, I never intended to imply the confetti explosion would result in an evolution into a child-like state or party animal. Rather that the confetti-like explosion would result in a metamorphosis of caterpiller-butterfly type proportions [in a "nice cute fury caterpillar, love the way you move... woah! Now you have wings now and can fly... cool! " sort of thing ]

[what would the next "evolution" of the human species be? Extra arms? More legs? Wings? Nah... probably just a cup holder, and wheels. ]

  • Dearest Anonymous,

I'm sorry for the cranky response. Sometimes I'm both neurotic and cranky. Go figure. I'm really quite nice in a neurotic and occasionally cranky sort of way. Honestly. Well I like me anyway. *grin*

Also, welcome back to commentsville. The fact that you've bothered to come back and read/comment a bit more is genuinely appreciated. I look forward to reading more from you. BTW, I'm now curious in regard to the confetti bit in the game. I'm going to have to see it. I'll check around to see if any of my friends have it.

Goodnight. I'm off to bed, hopefully I can sleep now. Neurosis and sleep deprivation do not a Happy Thia make.
